It’s Election Eve and I’m going to have to take (the generic equivalent of) Benadryl to be able to sleep tonight.

And I’ll be using (the Mountain Dew equivalent of) caffeine tomorrow night to be able to stay up to watch the polls close and to wait for the election results.

Anyone else too excited to sleep?

  1. I stayed up until 1:30…which is unheard of for me. I still had to get up at 5am. Didn’t damp my spirits though. This is fantastic!

  2. Even with (the generic equivalent of) Benadryl Monday night, I got only 2 hrs sleep. On Election/Freedom/Revolution/Tues Day, I was up at 5:am, worked at a polling precinct all day then went to a post-election party. I didn’t get home until 1:am. I was exhausted all day yesterday (Wednesday) and I finally got some sleep last (Wednesday) night. Today (Thursday), my legs are actually a little sore from being on my feet for at least 15 hours on Tuesday.

The outpouring of emotion at the post-election party when MSNBC projected the race to President-Elect Obama – have you said that enough yet? I haven’t – was amazing to witness. I still can’t completely describe how I felt but I’m thankful I could be there to be a part of it.

A weird thing happened to me at the party: Every time I heard someone say ‘I never thought I’d live to see the day…,’ my face sprung a leak on each side of the bridge of my nose. I was able to stop the leaks by biting my cheeks.
